We divide our Language Arts into a few sections:
Workbook: TGATB- This is our main curriculum. They do 1-2 lessons a day out of these book, and also have their unit assessments which we use as their testing measurement.
Spelling: TGATB have spelling words that go with each unit. We have used those but have the kids do copy work each day, but this year we'll be switching over to these "180 Days of Spelling" books.
Handwriting: We use TGATB handwriting books and the kids complete one page each day Monday-Thursday.
Typing: on Fridays we type! We use Typing club which is a free online class.
Writing: We'll be adding in Writing units for my oldest two this year. Not sure what that will exactly look like, but I'll keep you posted here. Right now I am looking at Illustory Book Making Kit.
Memorization: TGATB has lots of poems to memorize, and we've hand picked some of those, but this Summer we are going to focus on them memorizing The Articles of Faith for our church.
Reading: While I help 2 kids with their work books, the other two are responsible for doing their independent work, one of which is reading for 20 minutes. We have a huge collection of library books that includes books from each of our school units, ones I inherited from my family, got at Costco, and TGATB bookshop. We use these reading charts for the kids and they get to color one in each day after their reading is complete... and of course a filled in reading chart redeems a personal pizza from Pizza Hut.. jk, but we do let the kids get a special treat for completing their reading chart for the month.🍕
A good chunk of our bookshelf is filled with books from TGATB library. We haven't read one yet that we didn't like!
Handwritng practice

Our Own Book Library:
We had a couple books we had been gifted that we loved, but already had. I kept them and set them aside until I decided what to do with them. One day grandma gifted my second oldest a book and she has LOVED reading ever since. She helped me come up with the idea to start our own mini library in front of our home and luckily I had saved those books so I found this easy to build book library on amazon and a steel base at home depot and we whipped up this project pretty quickly and voila! We now have a cute book library and a home for those duplicates.
